“Audio theatre on your mobile phone”

A heads up from Diablogue informs me of a great sticker narrative project in Melbourne: True Secrets. Possibly inspired by the highly popular sticker art of Yellow Arrow, the stickers are placed in the street with a call-to-action to call a phone number. But, like the novel that is distributed via stickers around the world, Implementation, this peice provides a story.

“There are secrets in this city. True Secrets’ detectives have uncovered a treasure chest of urban tales, rumors and lost news stories. Zoom into the story and be swept back in time with these high-quality, site-specific, immersive audio dramas.”

Love to see this stuff happening more and more. For those in Sydney, and elsewhere, there are lots more Yellow Arrows locally too. But for now, check out True Secrets.

Email Fiction: ‘Suzanne’ is out now

Michael Betcherman, the Toronto writer and film-maker who was co-author of the popular email fiction: Daughters of Freya, as released a new story. Suzanne is available to experience now (for US$4.99). It is a comedy that is delivered to you through emails, with links to online newspaper articles, photos etc. In other words, it is a distributed narrative across a whole lot of sites.

“You can’t turn a page to find out what happens next … you have to wait for the next email to arrive.”

 Check out Suzanne!

Hitwise on Cross-Media Bundling

Sandra Hanchard, analyst for Hitwise Asia Pacific, responded to my post about cross-media bundling by offering some stats on what areas of entertainment are most searched for on the Net. The idea being that those with the greatest amount of interest on the Net shows that people are actively looking for other information and other media forms within that subject. As Hanchard says: “This may be used to inform at least the online component of a cross-media bundling strategy”. Good stuff!
